Curacao snorkeling spots

Snorkeling on Curaçao

Besides the nightlife on Curaçao, the daylife is also wonderful. So again we have found plenty of places where you can enjoy snorkeling on Curaçao. The water temperature is around 27 degrees Celsius all year round, making it delightful. The underwater visibility is fantastic and you have more than 40 beaches. So only good features for an island!

You have different types of coast on the island, both gravel and sand; including and excluding rocks. This does make some places more suitable than the popular Bonaire: colorful and diverse. You may encounter redsnappers, seahorses and barracudas, among others. Sea turtles are also frequently spotted.

The best spots on Curaçao are mainly around small bays on the island. Especially suitable are the bays that have a rocky bottom, remember water shoes. So snorkeling Curaçao is really a must do!

Snorkeling at Tugboat

This is a well-known spot on eastern Curaçao. It is a bay that is very popular with locals, among others. It is beautiful and peaceful there. Underwater visibility is also very good and there is a lot of underwater life to behold. The drive to Tugboat Beach is already a nice tour as you encounter Fort Beekenburg and see much of nature. You can also get to Tugboat by boat ride, and the Redsnapper Boat Trips provides these fun tours.

Tugboat literally means “Tugboat” and is one of Curaçao’s most famous and popular dive sites. Tugboat was sent to the bottom more than 30 years ago. Because the wreck has been on the bottom for so long, it has become part of the underwater fish and wildlife habitat. The wreck is about five meters underwater, making it the perfect snorkeling and diving spot. Because the water at Tugboat is very clear, you can get a good look at it when snorkeling.

Are you going to Curaçao soon and so you want a good spot for snorkeling? Then come to Tugboat Beach and snorkel to Tugboat!
